Your Guide to Sled Dog Adventures In Jackson Hole
Discovering Jackson Hole under paw power is a unique and exciting way to explore the area! Explore our winter wonderland, sparkling snow, the dogs softly trotting ahead of you, the sleds runners gliding under you, the huskies breath in the crisp, clean air. You even have the opportunity to mush the dogs yourself. Taking control of the sled and guiding your team through the pristine wilderness areas that surround our valley is quite an exhilarating experience. Our preferred vendors will give you a true feel & love for the sport of dogsledding and the wonderful dogs! Depending on snow conditions, the season can start as early as late November and often times runs well into April.
Spring can mean warmer temperatures so morning half day tours are the best bet, the trails are still firm. With the warming of the snow in the afternoon, the sled have a more difficult time gliding. Full day tours will run as long as they can, but the later in the season you get the less apt that these tour will still be available.
Full day trips pick up in town at 8:00 a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m. Full day trips will offer the widest variety of tours available. They include a hearty lunch, hot soups and beverages.
Half day trips include hot beverages and soups/snack. Thay last about 4-5 hours and are a great experience without
dedicating a full day to the activity.
Morning half day trips pick up in town at 8:00 a.m. and return at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Afternoon half day trips pick up in town at 11:45 a.m. and return at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Quick trips lasting 1.5 hours are available at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. These tours are short and sweet. You will get a feel for the overall experience in a condensed version of the other tours. A great option for those short on time or with children that have short attention spans. This can also be a good option for those from warmer climates that cannot tolerate the colder temperature for very long.
Dress as if you were going skiing. Vendors will provide the extras to make your excursion comfortable. Bring your camera to capture your adventure on this unique type of winter travel.
General Information
Pricing for the various trips range from around $150 a person up to $250 a person for full day tours. Our staff would be happy to arrange a guide for you.On guided tours snacks, water and a pack are typically provided by the vendor, for full day adventures lunch will be included.
Transportation is often provided; if not, we can arrange this for you.
Cancellation policies for these companies vary, from 24 hours prior to the trip to 2 weeks notice, otherwise there is a 100% cancellation fee.
