Your Guide to Winter in Jackson Hole
Winter in Jackson Hole is a magical time of year. The snow capped peaks provide an amazing backdrop for recreation or relaxation. A favorite time of year for alpine enthusiasts who anxiously await the next storm to blanket the valley with fresh snow.
Many people do not realize that there is so much to do here during the winter season. There is a lot more out there than just skiing. From touring the parks to a dinner sleigh ride there is enough to keep the non-skier in any group occupied. Browse the Winter Menu for further information about what might interest you.
The season kicks off with the opening of Grand Targhee Resort in late November, Snow King Resort generally opens around Thanksgiving with a run or two. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort generally opens the first weekend of December. Winter gets going full bore with the opening of Yellowstone in mid-December and the onset of the holiday seasaon.
Yellowstone opens its winter season in mid-December and closes its winter season in mid to late March. It reopens in May for the Summer Season and then closes in November until opening for the Winter season.
December can be cold and a little dry as far as snowfall goes, early in the month.
In late March Jackson hosts the World Champoionship Snowmobile Hill Climb at Snow King, this is our biggest event of the Winter season.
The winter season winds down in April with the closing of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort the first weekend in April and Grand Targhee doing so the following weekend.
